The
Class of 2003 has decided to focus our class gift effort to create a new program focusing on ALL students. Traditionally, a class gift is directed at the creation of a scholarship in which only one student benefits. This gift has the potential to benefit many students all at once.
Here's how it works: Funds raised through this program will be placed in the New Graduate Student account. A second or third year student may then direct a portion of these funds to the student organization of his or her choice on the condition that the student requesting the funds pledges to donate an equivalent amount to the same student organization within four years of graduation.
Think back to law school. Was there an organization that could have used an additional $100? Now students have the option of receiving funding for symposiums, speakers, or whatever they wish as long as they agree to match that amount after they graduate. In this way, funding for student organizations will drastically increase and students will learn about the importance of giving back.
Our goal is to raise $4,000 by October 10,
2008 and $8,000 by 2012. To accomplish this, we would only need half the class to give $50 each. To date, we have raised $850 and have another $500 pledged for this cause. Thus, we only need to raise $650 by December 31st to hit our goal!
This is a "Class Gift" so any participation will be greatly appreciated.
