Loan Repayment Assistance Program

Between the fall of 1991 and the spring of 1994, most of us paid an average of only $5,978 a year in tuition ($11,114 for out-of-state). The new graduates in the Class of 2009 averaged $19,618 in tuition ($24,423 for out-of-state). Thus, many recent graduates who wish to pursue careers in public service must forego these dreams in lieu of higher paying jobs to repay these debts. The Law School has created the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) to provide financial assistance to recent graduates working in public service who have significant debt-to-income ratios. Each of the nine current recipients receives a four-year $4000 forgivable loan to repay his or her student loans.

The members of the Class of 1994 are sufficiently committed to adding a tenth LRAP gift. In fact, two of its members have already agreed to contribute up to $4000 to help fund it. One former classmate will match any contribution up to $4000 that we receive from now until the end of 2009. The other will match annual combined gifts to this fund from our class up to $1000 from now until the end of 2012. In other words, if 80 members of the Class of 1994 contribute only $100 (half now; half later) to this fund, we’ll help another recent graduate pursue his or her public interest dream! Please consider joining us in this worthy effort.

In recognition of reaching the $5000 mark, a “leaf” will be engraved with "The Class of 1994" on the “Founder’s Tribute” branch mounted in the law school’s main hallway.
So if you contributed, a huge thank you! If you haven't yet given, we have until the end of the year to count this gift towards our total.

You can also contribute to this fund on the reunion registration form.
